NEW YORK, the suede one
A two-piece L-shape with chaise in premium suede, finished to look like vintage leather from a distance. $999. Deep seating on high-density foam over a timber frame, 294cm long and 184cm deep, seat depth 56cm and seat height 46cm. Made in both left hand facing and right hand facing, so pick the orientation for your room before you order. Twelve month warranty.
The soft-touch alternatives
JESSICA, $1,799, is a five seat modular in Stone Light Grey with feather-filled Cloud Comfort cushions. It is the softest thing we stock. Six pieces plus an oversized ottoman, 270cm square, five year frame warranty and twelve months on the fabric. Sit on it before you commit, because a deep sink-in seat is a preference, not an upgrade.
MONACO, $2,399, is a 3+2+1 set, six seats across three pieces. Light grey with a green tinge in the weave, so it reads warmer than a flat grey under Queensland light. Curved lines, plush cushioning, a thin gold trim along the base, and designer scatter cushions included.
Looking after a nap
Suede wants a soft brush rather than a wet cloth, always in one direction so the nap lies flat. Blot a spill, never rub it, because rubbing pushes it into the pile. Keep it out of direct afternoon sun, which flattens and fades the nap faster than most people expect in this climate. The soft-touch fabrics are more forgiving than that, but they will still fade in a north-facing window.
