Fabric is what most people end up buying, and not because it is the cheap option. It is quieter to sit on than leather, it does not go cold in July or sticky in January, and it comes in more shapes, because a modular suite is far easier to build in fabric than in hide. In a Queensland living room all three of those matter more than they sound.

Our fabric lounges run from $999 for a full L shape to $2,399 for a six seat three piece set. Everything is imported direct from the factory to Coopers Plains, so nobody takes a margin in between.

The fabrics we actually use

Rhino fabric is the tough one. It is the heavy weave on the JASON electric recliners, chosen because it takes daily use from a whole family.

Glamour fabric is softer, with a slight sheen that shifts as the light moves across it. ZAYLAN is light grey glamour, and it is the one people put a hand on as they walk past.

Cloud Comfort is the deep, sink-in feel on JESSICA. Not everyone wants it. If you like to get up off a lounge without effort, sit on something firmer first and compare.

Suede covers NEW YORK and MONACO. It reads as leather from across a room and feels nothing like it up close, which is the entire point of it.

One honest note. BETTY sits in this collection and it is not fabric. It is PU leather, a synthetic, and we would rather say so here than let you find out in the showroom. It belongs with these because it behaves like a fabric suite in the ways that matter to a busy house: it wipes clean, it is $1,499 for six seats, and there is plenty of it in stock.

Pick the layout before the colour

• A room that needs seats, not furniture. LUKA is a 3+2 set for $1,399 in grey or beige. Two pieces, five seats, no corner eating into the floor.
• Open plan. JESSICA and ZAYLAN are modular. They can be reconfigured after delivery, which is the thing you will be glad of the first time you move house or swap rooms around.
• The lounge room is also the spare room. BELFAST is a corner sofa bed at $1,899. Storage runs the length of the chaise, and the seat pulls forward into a bed in one motion with nothing to lift.
• Everyone wants their own recliner. JASON is Rhino fabric with every seat electric, LED lighting and a console. $2,099 for the full 3+2+1, in black or tan.
• A formal room. MONACO is a 3+2+1 in suede for $2,399. Six seats across three pieces.

Living with fabric in this climate

Keep it out of direct afternoon sun, which fades fabric faster here than most people expect. Vacuum the seams now and then, because that is where everything collects. Deal with a spill while it is still wet rather than after it dries. And do not put a lounge directly under an air conditioner outlet, because constant dry air is hard on both the foam and the covers.

Some models have removable covers and some do not. Ask us before you assume yours will.
