Collection: Sofas & Lounges Brisbane

This is the whole range, which is not always helpful. So here is the order that actually matters: how many seats, then what shape, then whether you want it to recline, then what it is covered in. Colour last. Most people do it backwards and end up with a lounge that looks right in the photo and does not fit the room.

Prices run from $550 for a single recliner armchair and $999 for a full L shape up to $2,899 for a six seat sectional with dual motors and everything built in. Direct import, so nothing sits between the factory and Coopers Plains.

Start with seats

• One or two. Single armchairs from $550 and 2 seaters from $800, sold as separate pieces off the HENNESSY suite. Useful for filling a gap rather than furnishing a room.
• Four or five. LUKA is a 3+2 set at $1,399 in grey or beige, two pieces and no corner eating into the floor. MODENA is a genuine leather corner at $1,599. ZAYLAN and JESSICA are five seat modulars at $1,899 and $1,799.
• Six. BETTY at $1,499 in PU leather with adjustable headrests, JASON at $2,099 with every seat electric, HENNESSY at $2,199 in Capri leather with manual recline, MONACO at $2,399 as a three piece set, HIWA at $2,599 as an electric corner, ROMA at $2,899 with dual motors. Six seats is where the value is in a direct-import suite.

Then the shape

• Separate pieces. A 3+2 or a 3+2+1 suits a squarer room and gives you the option of moving one piece elsewhere later. LUKA, HENNESSY, MONACO and JASON are built this way.
• Corner or L shape. Seats more people in less floor, because the corner does the work of two armchairs. BETTY, MODENA, NEW YORK, BELFAST, HIWA, MILANO and ASPEN, with more in the L Shape collection.
• Modular. Arrives as separate pieces you arrange yourself, and rearranges later. It is also the answer to a narrow doorway or a staircase. JESSICA, ZAYLAN and ROMA, with the full story in the Modular collection.
• A sofa bed. BELFAST at $1,899 is a corner suite with storage under the chaise that pulls forward into a bed. One piece of furniture doing two jobs.

Then whether it reclines

Six of these do. HENNESSY is manual, which means a lever and no power. JASON, HIWA, MILANO and ASPEN are electric on a single motor. ROMA has dual motors, so the back and footrest move independently and you can sit upright with your feet up. Two practical notes: an electric suite needs a powerpoint within reach, and a recliner needs clearance behind it to go back. The Recliners collection works through all of that properly.

Then the material

Four kinds, and the word leather is the one to watch. Genuine hide, Capri, air and PU are all sold as leather by somebody, and only the first came off an animal. We tell you which is which on every suite. The Leather collection explains the differences properly, Fabric Sofas covers the weaves, and Suede & Soft Touch is the warm matte end.

The measurements that decide it

• The wall run. The longest straight wall it will sit against, minus any door swing.
• How far it projects. For a corner or a chaise, how far it comes into the room. This is the number people forget and the one that makes a room feel crowded.
• The way in. Front door width, hallway turns, stairwell. If it is tight, go modular and the problem disappears.

Bring those three numbers to the showroom and we will tell you honestly what fits. We would rather sell you the smaller lounge than have it come back.
