An L shape sofa is the most efficient way to seat a family without filling the room. The corner does the work of two armchairs, the chaise gives someone room to stretch out, and the middle of the floor stays clear. That is why L-shaped lounges and corner lounge suites have quietly become the default in Brisbane's open-plan homes.

We carry L shape couches and corner sectionals from $999 to $2,799, imported direct from our manufacturer with no middleman markup. Everything below is on the floor at our Coopers Plains showroom.

Left hand or right hand chaise?

Stand in the doorway looking into the room. If the long chaise section runs along the wall to your left, you want a left hand facing (LHF) chaise. To your right, right hand facing (RHF). Get it backwards and the lounge will either block a walkway or turn its back on the television.

Some of our L shape lounges come in both orientations — the NEW YORK is made in LHF and RHF — and the modular suites can be reconfigured after delivery if you move house or change rooms.

Will it actually fit?

Three measurements matter, and only three:

• The wall run — the longest straight wall the sofa will sit against, minus any door swing.
• The chaise depth — how far the corner projects into the room. This is the one people forget, and it is the one that makes a room feel crowded.
• The entry path — front door width, hallway turns, and the stairwell if you are upstairs. Modular suites arrive in separate pieces and solve most access problems.

Bring your measurements to the showroom and we will tell you honestly whether a suite fits. We would rather sell you the smaller lounge than have it come back.

Fabric, velvet, suede or leather

Our L shape range covers all four. MILANO and MODENA are genuine leather. HIWA uses capri leather — a hard-wearing synthetic that costs less and wipes clean, worth considering with young children or pets. SEABROOK and JESSICA are deep-seated fabric, and the NEW YORK is suede.

Delivery across South East Queensland

We deliver up to 160km from Coopers Plains — Brisbane $55, Ipswich $75, Gold Coast $95, Sunshine Coast $150, Toowoomba $175. Same-day delivery is available on in-stock suites. Pickup from the showroom is free, and White Glove Installation is $60 if you would like it carried in, assembled, and the packaging taken away.
